Guest experience · Placards and your own design

A code on every door, room and fixture that matters.

Placards print from Foyer on your own printer, or as a PDF for a print shop — there is no hardware to buy. Each report code opens the right form for the place it hangs in, the visit rating card by the exit asks how the visit went, and a guest needs no app and no account for either.

How it works

From the moment it happens to the moment it is fixed

  1. 1

    Name the places

Every place you set up with a code gets a report placard — restrooms, the entrance, the dining room, the pumps, whatever your locations have — and each kind of place can ask its own list of issue types.

  2. 2

Go down to the room or the fixture

A hotel's guest rooms or a facility's storage units can each carry their own code, and a restroom can be divided into what is in it — three stalls, three sinks — so a scan says exactly which one, and each keeps its own history.

  3. 3

    Add the visit card

Every location also gets a visit rating placard for the way out: one tap on a 0 to 10 scale, anonymous, with no comment box.

  4. 4

Print one set at a time

The placards page prints Issue reporting and Sentiment apart, because a sheet of cards that all look alike is a sheet somebody mounts in the wrong place.

What you get

Placards and your own design, in detail

Your own artwork

Upload a PNG or JPEG the shape of the paper — A4, A5, A6, US Letter, Half Letter, 5 × 7 or 4 × 6 in — for report or visit rating placards, for every location or just one. Drag the code where it goes, add the place's name or not, and each placard prints on a page of its own.

Your mark in the middle

Put your own mark in the middle of every QR code: a PNG, JPEG or WebP, squared and shrunk before it is sent. SVG is refused. Your logo goes at the top of the guest form and of our placard card, and “Powered by Foyer” stays on the guest form.

Codes nobody can guess

Every code is a random token rather than a room number, so one code cannot be worked out from another. An admin can rotate a report placard's code from under its card, and the old code stops working the moment the button is pressed.

The design follows the code

Only your artwork is stored; each code goes on when the page is printed, so rotating a code or adding a restroom just works. Where several designs fit, the most particular one is used, and a location's own design beats the one for every location.

In your kind of venue

What this looks like where you work

Hotels and resorts

Each guest room can carry its own code, so a report arrives saying which room without the guest typing a number.

Restaurants and multi-unit food

The order counter, drive-thru and patio can each ask their own list of issue types, so a drive-thru scan is about orders and waiting rather than the restroom.

Apartments and multifamily

The laundry room, elevators and mail room can each have a placard, so a resident reports the machine or the door in front of them.

Gyms and fitness studios

A restroom divided into stalls and sinks says which one is broken, and the visit card by the exit asks members how the visit went.

Self-storage

Each storage unit's door can carry its own code, so a report about a stuck latch names the unit.

Gas and convenience

The pumps, the car wash and the air and vacuum can each have a placard with questions that fit them, apart from the restroom card.

Retail and multi-store chains

One design for every store, or a store's own, prints with each place's code added at print time.

Questions

What operators ask about placards and your own design

Do we need special hardware or a QR code service?

No. Placards print from Foyer on any printer, and placards on your own design print one to a page, ready to save as a PDF a print shop can print as it is. Guests scan with the phone camera; there is no app to install and no account to make.

What if a placard is defaced, copied or abused?

An admin presses Rotate QR code under that report placard's card. The old code stops working at once, before the new card is even printed, and the new one prints from the same page.

Can we use our own placard design?

Yes. The account admin uploads your artwork as a PNG or JPEG the shape of the paper, chooses which placards and which locations it is for, and places the code and the place's name on it. Each placard still gets its own code at print time, so rotating a code or adding a place just works.

Can we remove “Powered by Foyer”?

No. Your logo replaces the Foyer mark at the top of the guest form, and your own mark can sit in the middle of every QR code, but the “Powered by Foyer” line stays on the guest form. It is not a setting.

Who can print placards?

Admins print for every location, and a general manager prints the placards for their own locations. Rotating a code is for an admin alone, because it switches off the placard already on the wall.
